Japanese Figure Skating Fans' Club launched a campaign to collect signatures for changing judging rules in the figure skating!
I recommend that each of us has to be signed, like i already did! Signing up to the 5th of May - hurry up!..... here is briefly the contents of their petition....
http://figureskate.main.jp/english/Etop.html- The collected signatures will be printed and will be sent to organizations related to figure skating including ISU and JSF (Japan Skating Federation) together with the petition.
- The signatures and the petition will be mailed in May.
- We will request response to the petition from the above organizations including ISU and JSFRevision of scoring systemRequest 1: Abolition of anonymous judging - Problems of anonymous judging system:
1: Judges do not need to take responsibility for their scoring, and the scoring criteria remain unclear
2: ISU Judging System which was supposed to be more objective than the 6.0 system has instead become more subjective.
3: Anonymous judging system is a breeding ground for corruption, and a cheating is harder to detect than under the 6.0 system
2. Request 2: Display of scoring given by each of the judges at the competition venues and in TV broadcasting- The problems in not displaying the scores of each of the judges:
1: dispersion of scores, irresponsibility of the judges
2: the current situation where nobody pay attention to the dispersion of scores is a breeding ground for corruption
3. Request 3: Abolition of random draw process in selecting the final scores to be adopted, and introduction of a method where the two highest and two lowest marks (first, second, eighth, and ninth) for each element and performance are discarded- Problem of random draw: Scores fluctuate depending on the luck
- Unfair judging can be prevented by discarding the highest and the lowest scores instead of random draw
Revision of the base values (Review of the rules regarding the men's singles)
Request 1: Restriction on the number of jumps (From 12 to 9)- Increased burden compared to the period under the 6.0 system
- The problems of the excessive number of jumps
Request 2: Revision of rules regarding jumps- Technical decline of figure skating
- Argument against the proposal of the "salvage measure" by ISU
- Revision of rules regarding GOE: calculation by percentage in accordance with the base values
- Abolition of the downgrade rule
- Revision of the base values
- Introduction of coefficient to the second or the jumps thereafter in a jump sequence
