I have to admit that Joubert (regardless of the bad skating LP - I do not know whether his "age" and condition in question) is still better than the other "active" skaters ... but he is far from his form from 2004 when he "beat" Plushy. <_<
And once more thing  ... he mimic the Plush's and "flirt" with the judges  :P

Italian and himself "surprised" - overthrow its own record for 45 points. :woot:
Belgian is the only skater which jumped all jumping.

Other French also excellent - they almost to share each of all three medals. Especially is excellent Ponsero who had received the best marks for LP, and the ninth place due to the fourth.

Werner and Voronov by custom "make a mess" because of weak psychic.
Lutai is good and correct skate, but nothing in particular.

Music theme nights - Matrix, Matrix ... and again Matrix! :P (and little Tango's ;))

All in all, I have the impression that the month with serious preparation, Evgeni won at least the silver medal :15f535z.gif: :2hx3inp.gif:

I watched the ISU Men Free program yesterday and I can say this:
About Jaubert: I thing that he is (in this moment) the only mature skaters, with big experience in competitions, he is not good like he was few years ago, but he is still the number one - no discuss here.
But, yesterday, after italian skater Contesti's program and a high result (that's really surprise - Contenti doesn't have any experience - he is french with italian citizen, he won italian shampionship and he came to Helsinki to present Italy, that's all), the short od Contesti was also good (3° place), but AFTER Contesti's excelent LP I SAW JAUBERT in crisis!!
But, he is old wolf and onlu his big experience saved him and helped him to overcross the mentality block after this SHOCK - who coild expected Contesti to be so good???
Anyway, it was great competition. I enjoy it with a nostalgy, but I enjoy it.
About russian - I am not agree with Cekoni - Lutai had a LP of his life yesterday, he was so sure and so good - and he didn't fall down at all :o:  ^_^
Mishin's pupile gave the best of him, but this "best" could be enough.
About other two russians skaters - well, I expected more, of course, but obviously there is something wrong.........
Nice performance of other french skater, great 4T3T compination in the begining.......
Tomas Verner...........oh, my god......I was so sorry for him.....he looked like someone who doesn't care......the short was excellent, but yesterday it was one of these strange moments of Tomas where she was simply ABSENT..........he was somewhere else, not at ice......
Anyway, I tried to imagine Evgeni in the middle of all these men skaters - I tried, and I think he doesn't belong there anymore.
There was also swedish skater (don't remember the name now) who has the same age of Evgeni (27 this year), he skated with many errors, but he was in great phisic condition.
The different between him and Evgeni is that Evgeni's health and psihic condition is the same like the swedish'one, but Evgeni just CAN'T COME ON THE ICE AND MAKE MISTAKES.!
This is the different between skater who never win and the best skaters ever.
I don't know if we will really see Evgeni at Vancouver, but if it's happen - it will be an answer for all my doubts - not only about Evgeni, but also my private doubts and confirm that it's true when they say that if you really desire something than you can do it - even if everything around you says that it's not possible.

As I said in the other forum, unless Plush comes back and still i dont know what will happen, same with Labiel and who ever else, this Vancouver Olympics wont crown a european athlete, it has been 5 Olympics that Europe takes the medal and this year(i expect next year also) Usa and Canadian youngsters are very strong and with thirst to win, also the Asians, i feel judges will give it to another continent.
Jouberts sp is really entertaining, but his lp is a disaster in choreo and interpretation, maybe he is the last one from the old gang, and really the one with experience and mature, I m sure he is one of the best around now, but honestly I dont feel like he is the man to beat in next olympics like plush was. Or yagoudin was. His best season was 2 years ago, he has the quad, but not always consistent and not in combination lately, his program (Lp) has nothing more.
Congradulation to Contesti, I enjoyed every minute of his skating. What a surprise!
After mens free I only would like to see Plushy come back, just to see an enjoyable skating, this would be great, and I really dont care if he gets on podium cause lately if a gold medal is won like yesterday with ugly program, it doesnt worth it much.

I am agree with you about Jaubert, I allready said that only his big experience saved him after SHOCK provocated by Contesti's success, because nobody expected this - I am agree, he's lp is disasterm and only thanks a sp he won Europian.
But as you say, many young skaters will be at Vancouver OG, asiatic and american, and canadian.........Jaubert doesn't have any chance against them, I think.
But, Plushy...........omg.........if he really come there, he will provocate the mental crash to everybody, and the possibility to win the medal is high.
We can't forget how strong his karisma is, still very strong, and during OG competition everyting is in the game ........not only tecnic preparation, or other practic stuff........All........
If he comes to Vancouver, my dream will be realised, if he wins it will be marvelous, if he doesn't win it will be marvelous, too........and better than yesterday's golden medalist program, for sure......... ^_^

Think only, how would he "shake" to see Evgeni's... on the same ice in the warming-up? :36_11_6.gif:

No, I am not in the better mood.......I just dream about Evgeni's come back and sometimes it's not easy to dream about it, as you weel know.
But I realised, after men Europian, that, for sure, IN THIS MOMENT, there are nobody who can beat him.
Let's wait Mondial Champ, let's see the others.........
Evgeni was and he will be allways the best for me.....I still believe, even when it's difficolult sometimes.

Petersburgers have won silver and bronze on European championship of figure skating

Alexey Mishin, the deserved trainer of Russia, specially for "Metro" has commented on European championship results...

- I estimate performance of the Russian sportsmen highly enough, - Alexey Nikolaevich has told.
- Girls in single skating have received the fourth and sixth results - lately for us this unprecedented achievement. Boys have acted well, they too have entered into first ten. I any more do not speak about gold of dancing pair Yana Khohlova-Sergey Novitsky and silver and bronze in pair sports skating. It means that at us this kind of sports gradually rises from knees. Physically we are ready to rise on a podium. Including Petersburg figure skaters - after all silver and bronze of this championship will arrive in Northern capital.

What our chances in the World championship?
– I think, there to us it will be more difficult. Many strong contenders, but we will be overcome. And here to Olimpiade 2010, I very much hope for it, we collect forces and will act adequately. Well and to 2014 when winter Games will pass in Sochi, we will be the best.

Japanese Juko of Kawaguchi will performing for Russia in a pair figure skating on the Olympic Games, most likely. It does not confuse you?
– It after all already the Petersburger! And besides remarkable Tamara Moskvina's pupil. So it's OK.

And when Evgeni Plushenko will start to performing? And whether it is going to all the same to take part in the nearest Olympic Games?
– Evgeni itself disposes of the life. To it and to answer these questions.

But after all, you its trainer...
– Yes, I its trainer also wait Evgeni's on trainings. As will decide, let comes.

Brian Joubert:
I am proud that on the European championship of 2004 have bypassed invincible Evgeni Plushenko

Yesterday, on January 22nd, on the European championship on figure skating in Helsinki the complete set of awards in man's single skating has been played. The third time a title of the champion was won by Frenchman Brian Joubert.
Brian Joubert has shared with the special correspondent of agency of the sports information «All sports» memoirs on the victories, including - over Russian Evgeni Plushenko.

«I already the third time become the champion of Europe, - have reminded Brian Joubert. - First gold in 2004 is especially significant for me. First, it is the first my serious victory on large tournament. And secondly, I managed to bypass invincible Evgeni Plushenko. I am proud of that result! On the other hand, gold of 2004 was gave to me very easily psychologically - on me nothing pressed, I went for a skating in the pleasure. The season of 2006-2007, certainly, was "my" season....

-------------------------------------------

:B):

Today I saw Joiubet's interview on Eurosport's ... if they are accurately translate what he is said, he said a great stupidity <_<
So, on question of what distinguished American and European skaters (or some similar question), he said that the Europeans skaters have a better "technique", until Americans have better "artistic presentation."

I do not know on the basis of what has come to this conclusion, unless if he thought on the quality of his "artistic presentation" :P
Russians are (especially Ice Dance skaters) "relied" on their ballet tradition, and unsurpassed in its artistic presentation :kaos-pika04.gif:

... about Russian man skaters on European Championships.... :B):

«It is necessary to change something in a head»

Specially for «МК in Peter» performance of the Petersburg sportsmen has commented double Olympic champion Arthur Dmitriev.

Voronov is not able to work through a pain

Sergey Voronov's failure became for me quite expected. I worked with it in the last some months as its trainer Alexey Urmanov constantly searched to itself for the assistant. To cope with Voronov's alone it is impossible. Sergey has a fear before trainings. He in panic is afraid to make a extra jump, to spend extra minute on ice. Every day during our job he thought out different excuses. That the head is ill it, a stomach has not slept. That is in every way tried to leave from loadings. To become the champion with this attitude is not realistic. It is necessary to be able to train through a pain, through can not. Sergey is not capable of it. On trainings it is necessary to give all the best much more always, than at competitions. And Sergey thinks: «Well, nothing, somehow I will be ready». Do not be ready! I know that Alexey Urmanov has invited for job with Sergey the psychologist. But while results of this job it is not visible. It is insulting, because Voronov have all given to become the good figure skater. It is necessary to change only something in a head.

As to Andrey Lutay's — that at it all is much more difficult. He not bad jumps. As a whole the guy capable. Here only there is no artistry. Unimportant skating, inexpressive steps. Very often it is given at a birth. Long trainings it is possible to leave on certain level. Here only above a head you will not jump...

From ten last European championships on figure skating I, apparently, was not only on one. I am afraid, further blanks will be much more. For the further, the more boringly. Times of ice symphonies of Plushenko and Yagudin's have passed for a long time, there have come times of theatre of one, constantly falling actor Joubert's.
That to Jouber's, probably, already most it was a shame to it so to win in Helsinki. In particular realising that in Los Angeles in the World championship to it with such skating and the fifth place does not shine.
Though for us where the question is more important: what shines to Sergey Voronov, whose performance on Europe differently as accident will not name? What is it was: casual stress, result of insufficient quantity skating programs or a consequence of an old trauma? Only correctly having answered this question submitting high hopes trainer Alexey Urmanov will revive the talented pupil to whom Andrey Lutay breathes in a back....

To Lutay's ring of Mishin's has helped

The secret to successful performance Andrey Lutay's at the European Championships in Helsinki revealed! It turns out talent of figure skating coach maître Alexey Mishin is using the training process of Andrey ... magic ring.
As soon as the beloved pupil went to the ice, professor Mishin begins his almost hypnotic conversation. All attention on Lutay's he is focused on brilliant subject, and problems with the execution of axel and tulup's no longer occurs.
More seriously, then well done Andrey, well done!

... Only Plushenko, en route to his 2006 Olympic gold medal in Turin, has ever posted a higher short-program score, 90.66.

"Yeah, 90," said Chan. "I don't think I'll be able to catch that. He had a Quad, so that's an extra couple of points. For a solid short program with a triple-triple and triple Axel, this is as good as it gets."....

... Buttle went on to win the world championships, then promptly retired in the fall, leaving big skates for Chan to fill.
The young skater has done an admirable job so far. His score Thursday night for her performance to "Tango de los Exilados" was second in points only to Evgeni Plushenko's short program at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy, where the Russian skater scored 90.66 and went on to win Olympic gold.

"I don't think I'll be able to catch that, this is the max I've ever had," Chan said. "(Plushenko) had a quad, which adds a couple of points, I think until the time I do a quad in the short program - who knows if I do it, I don't know if I will, maybe - I'll hit the 90 mark."
Chan added his goal is to add a quad to his routine by the Vancouver Olympics.
The Toronto skater opened with a huge triple Axel, a jump that had been giving him trouble earlier in the season, and then skated smoothly to the end, dazzling the crowd with his agile footwork and then a combination spin to close his routine....

On Thursday, he nailed three triple jumps, including a triple-triple combination with ease. With his difficult elements out of the way, he turned up the showmanship and played to the adoring crowd.

In this competition give high marks. :AddEmoticons04259.gif: Last year Daisuke Takahashi get score of 264.11 for his LP (almost 6 points more than Plush's Oly Godfather)

I can not believe that with only triple jumps, may and close in the ratings, to any of Plush's short programs :shifty:

Part of a very interesting interview of Stephan Lambiel's, which gave the some Russian agency... part about jugdes system of evaluation's :B):

Probably, I a bit mad

..... - How do you react to the fact that Johnny Weir, with whom you practiced in the U.S., won the Championship in the USA only fifth place?
- It was a disaster ... Johnny now must be very hard. But I blame this new system. From my point of view was to win Evan Laysachek - how he skate both programs. And he was third. Judges sometimes do very strange things when someone wants to move. The new system allows it. For instance, I still do not understand, than be guided by the arbitrators to determine an assessment of the components: figure skating may not be tie step, but he gets a good marks, because he is "good figure skater". Yes, if you have a strong figure skater, it must by definition get high scores for the "mastering" of skates. But if you without the transitions, then the assessment should reflect this too. The bottom line is that both of these components is estimated at almost the same level. But this is illogical! Not to mention the fact that components are often used to pull a good figure skater, which is poorly perform.

- But just the same "saved" and you - at last year's European Championships in Zagreb, where a short program you've done quite simple cascade of triple and double tulup's.
- I know. But think that this should not be. Do not use components only to have someone to pull and some down. Indeed, it is that goes on the ice figure skater, has shown a very good program and did not receive the highest component because it little known. This system does not like me: it allows you to manipulate the results....

- It is strange to hear such from you. You always very diplomatically expressed on this theme.
- I am simply very indignant. When itself participated in competitions never looked at marks. Said to itself that should not neither discuss an estimation, nor complain of judges. But now, when I watch competitions as the spectator, I fine see all these strangenesses. Yes, in figure skating there is no absolute true, it is a subjective kind of sports: someone is pleasant to you, someone - is not. But... Sometimes all happens very strange...

Chan in the Four Continents Championships was brilliant. I was able to forget him in the Grand Prix Final, absolutely. I really like his "high quality" skating, particularly short program this time. There were so many TR, moving music... His triple axel was just amazing. What a big leap image
But IMO the score is "inflation" as high as some (all?) Nationals. e.g. the Nationals of my country :P Last year Takahashi was so, too. However he jumped twice quads and twice triple axels at free. So, I was able to accept his score, a little.

Of course, I know what current judges want. They demand for skaters which quality than difficulty. I have no doubt it. But I think that the guy never deserve real champion, while no-quad. Even if he will win at the worlds. Sorry if anyone hurt by my opinion :AddEmoticons04274.gif:

Do not apologize - there's no "injuries" :kaos-pika27.gif:

I agree with you about Takahashi ;) Sorry, I was too quick in assessing his performance -_- .... but to me it is still very "suspicious" this competition, because only they give such high marks

Problem in the asking more "quality than difficulty" is one, about that is spoken Lambiel: quality is a very relative term and is subject to manipulation. If the current skaters can not jumping difficult jumps, not be should changed way of evaluating - than should request from skaters more effort.
This is indulgence to poor's quality of today's men's skating and will not contribute to its progress

As regards the "quality" of skating, I think that Plush will not have a problems with that :AddEmoticons04263.gif:
